Google Summer of Code at the Python Spatial Analysis Library: Applications Open for Students

The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program (https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/) is a funded summer opportunity where undergraduate and graduate students can help contribute to open source software. The Python Spatial Analysis Library (PySAL), which focuses on distributing open-source computational tools for spatial analysis, network analysis, and visualization of geographic data is now accepting applications for GSoC at PySAL. Interested students can check out the available PySAL GSoC projects (https://github.com/pysal/pysal/wiki/Google-Summer-of-Code-2021) and introduce themselves via Gitter (https://gitter.im/pysal/pysal)!

GSoC summer students will receive compensation, mentorship, and recognition for their contributions to open source software. A basic background in computer science – specifically object oriented programming, developing functions, and version control software – is all that is required for participation. Experience with data analysis and geospatial data a plus. The application window is open from March 29, 2021 to April 13, 2021.
