Organizational patterns for increasing gender diversity in computer science education

Increasing gender diversity of the student population in computer science education and keeping it more balanced requires activities and efforts in various areas (such as staff training, curriculum development, advertisements) and on different management levels (individual, small teams, department, university). While all of these are important, there are some overlapping organizational aspects that can be found in most reports on efforts that succeeded in increasing the gender diversity. In this paper we present four patterns that address these organizational aspects: ACTION GROUP, MALE PARTICIPATION, NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES, and MENTORING.
