AccessComputing: Mentoring

AccessComputing helps students with disabilities successfully pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in computing fields, and works to increase the capacity of postsecondary institutions and other organizations to fully include students with disabilities in computing courses and programs. We work with hundreds of students with disabilities who are pursuing computing degrees at schools across the country. Computing faculty can join an online mentoring community to serve as mentors to these students.

A CISE PI can specify that they will become a mentor. AccessComputing provides training and support to mentors. The time commitment for a mentor varies depending upon their availability and interest in topics being discussed in the community but is most often less than an hour per month.More information is available about serving as a mentor on the AccessComputing website.
