AccessComputing: Outreach Activities for Students with Disabilities

Org: AccessComputing
Url: http://uw.edu/accesscomputing

Workshops, camps, and afterschool activities are great ways to introduce students with disabilities to computer science. Recruit students with disabilities to outreach activities that you are already planning or plan an event specifically for students with disabilities.   You might locate students with disabilities, through parent groups, school districts, or special education teachers. Be sure that any technology that you plan to use is accessible to students with disabilities and ask about any accommodations that participants may need.

A departmental plan can specify that they will organize outreach activities focused on students with disabilities.

More information about example outreach activities for students with disabilities is available on our website. AccessComputing is happy to work with individuals who are interested in planning activities for students with disabilities.
