DU(E-NEWS) Special Edition: AAAS-IUSE Summer Labs: Developing a New Faculty Model to Improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The AAAS-IUSE Initiative invites participation in its Summer Labs Sessions for an opportunity to discuss systemic issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion at the faculty level. This session features a keynote from Dr. David Asai, Senior Director for Science Education at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. After the featured keynote, speakers for one of three concurrent conversations will be hosting discussions with participants: Reimagining a More Equitable Tenure System to Recruit and Support Faculty; Call for Departmental/Institutional Change to Broaden Participation; and Unique Challenges Faced by MSI and URM STEM Faculty.

The webinar will be held on Tuesday June 22 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm EST. University STEM faculty and graduate students interested in conversations on examining equity within faculty recruitment and tenure systems, creating cultural change within STEM departments, and confronting common challenges encountered by faculty at Minority Serving Institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities are encouraged to attend. The Main Session will be conducted virtually via Zoom. Pre-registration is required for this event. A Zoom meeting link will be sent to you after your registration is confirmed.
